Dear Moss Society Members,

Welcome! This is the third newsletter of 2019.

Pat Moss News

Pat and the Moss Society just returned from the 2019 tour of Italy. Pat said she was so energized by this trip and totally enjoyed seeing a part of the country that she had never visited. We always benefit from Pat’s travels, don’t we?

Her first stop on her resumed 2019 tour will be in Ashland, Kentucky. Pat said she was long overdue for a visit there. She will be onsite to release her new print, Bicentennial Blessings, in celebration of Ashland’s First Presbyterian Church"s 200 year anniversary. Pat has been working with Ann Wiseman at the church for the last year and a half to bring to life this vibrant church print. The dates/times for this print release are: Friday, June 21, from 2-6 pm, and Saturday, June 22nd, from 10-4 pm. The church is located at 16th and Winchester Avenue. As always, Pat will sign up to 3 previously purchased Moss items for collectors.

Moss Society News

Big News!

Pat concluded the recent Society trip to Italy by revealing that the next Moss Society trip is planned and reservations are being taken. The 2020 Moss Society Trip is scheduled for May 22nd – June 5th, and we will be Exploring Britain & Ireland, with stops in Wales and Scotland. This fantastic tour has been carefully put together by the Moss family with Collette Travel. One of the very special highlights of this trip, is a ride in a jaunting car. A jaunting car is a light two-wheeled carriage for a single horse, with seats for two or four persons placed back to back, facing sideways. It was the typical conveyance for persons in Ireland at one time. You will get to see Stonehenge, London, Blarney Castle, Dublin, just to name a few sites. Sound exciting? To see all that is planned for this trip and view the itinerary follow this link, http://mosssociety.org/2020_SocietyTrip.pdf. Reservations will need to be made directly with Collette Travel on their website, https://gateway.gocollette.com/link/943245, or by calling (800) 852-5655.  For information about the trip, contact Patty Moss at the Society office by phone at 804-725-7378 or email the Society office with any questions at society@pbuckleymoss.com. We look forward to seeing you there.

Moss Foundation News

People’s hearts, especially those of the Moss Society, are huge. The Moss Foundation would like to acknowledge and thank these donors for their extraordinary efforts this year in fundraising on behalf of Pat’s wishes to provide educational opportunities through the programs administered by the Foundation.

Barren Ridge Winery, Fishersville, VA. This beautiful Shenandoah Valley winery is within 20 miles of Pat’s Waynesboro home. Together they have formed a mutually beneficial bond where the winery uses 2 of Pat’s images for labelling and the Moss Foundation receives an annual donation from it. This year’s donation is $3,140.00.

Canada Goose Gallery, Waynesville, Ohio. Laura Deramus, owner of Canada Goose Gallery, spearheaded this drive to raise money for the Moss Foundation. Her raffle raised $1,654.00 which was put into the funds for teachers grants.

Central Iowa Chapter of the Moss Society.  In celebration of Pat’s birthday, this chapter donated $500. Judy Roe, Treasurer, said that she’d like it to be used for teacher grant funding.

Daughter of the Stars, Strasburg, Virginia. Terry Dabrowski led the chapter in a fun event that raised $215. She said, “The Virginia Wine and Craft show was Saturday the 18th.  We made $215.00. Most of the tickets sold were $1 tickets for a chance to win.  We had a lot of donations and the children enjoyed the clown that did magical tricks and balloon characters and his wife face painting. SLIME was a big hit.  All the children got to take a jar of slime with their choice of additives added in it.  Below is a photo of the event. This was a TEAM effort made by “The Daughter of The Stars” chapter and we had a lot of fun doing it!”

Thank you Daughter of the Stars for “making helping out” a fun event!

Virginia Myers, Ohio and sometimes Texas. Longtime dear friend of Pat’s and everyone involved in Moss, Ginny sent a $50 donation in honor of Frances Morgan, mother of Foundation office manager, Mary Morgan.

Society members at large, everywhere in United States. Thank you for your continuing support of our mail return label program. Thank you PayPal supporters for your recurring donations. All of your gifts are having a sizeable impact on the amount of assistance that can be provided to our students.

The Foundation would like to introduce you to the 2019 P. Buckley Moss Endowed Scholarship winner. Her name is Teagan Walters and she is a sculptor from Wisconsin. Teagan, like Pat, has difficulty reading because of dyslexia. In her words, she describes herself as “creative, caring and outgoing” and “strong because I have to be.” Teagan will be pursuing her study of art at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her goals are many, but among them she wants to teach with her art and compel people to think about the human condition. Congratulations to Teagan.

In closing, just a reminder that the Moss Foundation Annual Fundraising Dinner is being held at the Memorial Patio at Pat’s Waynesboro home on July 13th. Ticket sales have been brisk, so if you think you’d like to attend, please contact the Foundation office at 800-430-1320, or foundation@mossfoundation.org. This year’s dinner is going to be outstanding as we have a delicious menu selected for you. Tickets are only $40 each. This is a great time to help support students like Teagan and spend a wonderful evening with our favorite artist.

Send your chapter news to society@pbucklymoss.com. We love hearing from you.
