November 15, 2009: Raffle drawing for an original framed print, valued at $2,000, to benefit the 2009 Scholarship Fund to the Creative Minds Conference in VA.

Current Projects:
Our major project for 2009 is the raffle of a beautiful framed original art work, valued at $2,000. The proceeds of the raffle will be used to provide scholarships to two educators from Pinellas County, FL to attend the 12th Creative Minds Conference in Staunton, VA, sponsored by the P. Buckley Moss Foundation for Children’s Education. This conference invites educators across the nation to join together to discuss techniques, strategies and lesson plans for incorporating the arts into the curriculum of every child. One of the goals of the conference is to find new and original methods of teaching children who learn differently. The response to the 2008 conference was so great that the Chapter has chosen to send two educators to this year's Conference.

Past Activities:
The 2008 Chapter project was the raffle of the framed, remarqued print "Sanibel Light". Proceeds were used to sponsor one educator from Pinellas County to the 11th Annual Creative Minds Conference in Staunton, VA. Our 2008 scholarship recipient, Dara Vance, not only has effectively used the information that she gained at the conference with her own students, but also has shared thisa information with numerous educators throughout the State during this past year. Additionally, Dara has joined the P. Buckley Moss Society and has become an active member of the Moss Pelicans.

The 2007 Chapter project was the raffle of the framed print "Pelican Watch" to benefit the Hunter Ian Hart Scholarship Fund. A check in the amount of $625 was presented to Hunter Hart of Brandon, FL at the Chapter meeting on January 27, 2008. Hunter and his mother, Carolyn, were guests at that meeting and were most appreciative of our support to Hunter. As our first scholarship recipient, Hunter Ian Hart has faced numerous challenges throughout his educational years. Not only is he a student who learns differently, but also he is a young man with medical challenges. Hunter was recently diagnosed with Primary Immune Deficiency and has been accepted as a participant in a special study at All Childrens' Hospital in St. Petersburg, FL.

Remarks to Potential Members:
We welcome full time and "seasonal" residents to the Chapter which takes pride in representing Pat's Florida home state. We are small but enthusiastic and are looking for members who share in our love of Pat, her art and her goals.
