The P. Buckley Moss Society respects your privacy and is committed to ensuring that your personal information is not used in ways that you would not expect or approve of. This Privacy Policy is intended to assist you in understanding how the Society uses, collects and safeguards the personal information which you provide to the Society through the web site and to assist you in making informed decisions when using the Society's web site and its services.
By accessing our web site, you are consenting to our collection and use of the personal information as described in this Privacy Policy. If we change our Privacy Policy and procedures we will post those changes on our web site to keep you aware of the information we collect, how we use it and how we might disclose it.
Collection of Personal Information
The Society collects no personal information from individuals who merely browse the web site and view the various pages of information contained herein. Personal information is collected only when you choose to provide it in the following ways:
- If you choose to register for a membership or other items or services from the Society, you will need to give us personal information and authorization to obtain information from various credit services. For example, you may need to provide your name, mailing address, email address, credit card number, home phone number and Society membership number. This information will be used to process your request for membership or services and will be retained within the records of the Society.
In accordance with its By-Laws, all membership information obtained by the Society is confidential and can be used only for Society purposes. Moreover, each employee of the Society is required to sign a confidentiality agreement, which forbids the use of personal information for any purpose not authorized by the Society.
When you send confidential personal credit card information to us on the web site, we employ secure server software to encrypt the information before it is sent to us. The information is scrambled en-route and decoded once it reaches us. While no system of security is perfect, we believe we have taken reasonable precautions to protect the confidentiality of your credit card information.
- If you choose to participate in our email distribution groups or newsletters, we will retain your email address as a part of the email database. However, in the distribution of material by means of our email newsletter, we take steps to ensure that the email addresses of subscribers are not made generally available to the public.
- If you choose to correspond with us through email, we may retain the content of your email messages together with your email address and other identifying information and our responses in Society files. We will provide the same protections for these electronic communications that we employ in the maintenance of information received by mail or telephone or other personal communications with the Society.
This Site and Children 13 and Under
This site is not intended for children and the Society does not knowingly collect personal information from children. In order to comply with federal regulations concerning children age 13 and under and the internet, only adults may complete applications for junior memberships or otherwise communicate with the Society. By using a credit card to complete an application for a junior membership, we are assuming that the form is being completed by a person authorized in law to do so.
Cookies
The Society's web site does not currently use the technology known as "cookies." It is possible that cookies will be employed in the future so that we may obtain aggregate information about how our web site is used. Cookies are a feature of the web browser software that allows web servers to recognize the computer, which is being used to access the web site; they are small pieces of data stored on a user's computer at the time of the visit. Cookies can remember what information the user accesses on one web page thereby simplifying subsequent interactions with that web site by the same user. Cookies make your on-line experience easier and more personalized.
If the Society elects to use cookies on its web site, we may log the date and time of visits, the pages viewed and the time spent on the web site. This information will be collected on an aggregate basis and not associated with you as an individual. No information which we collect will be disclosed to any third parties outside of the P. Buckley Moss Society through the web site except as necessary to respond to your request for information or services or to conduct the business of the Society.
Required Disclosures of Information
Your personal information will be disclosed to third parties only when we are legally compelled to do so, whether by subpoena, court order or government regulation, or when disclosure is otherwise required to protect our rights.
